my 87 camaro wont start

ok guy so bare with me I have an 87 sport coupe that was a five speed 2.8 now I put a 305 from a 91 tbi and carbed it now it wont start its getting gas a nice blue spark at the plug and still wont start it acts like it wants to bust off if u hold the carb all the way...

What kind of carb?
If ya have to hold it all the way open, sounds like you're getting too much fuel, either too high pressure, bad needle/seat, bad idle screw adjustment, blown power valve (if a holley or quick fuel)..
What's your timing set at?

its edelbrock 650 electric choke but the electric choke isn't hooked up I am pretty sure the carb is right..... any other ideas

I dont know eddy's too well, im a holley guy, sounds like a carb issue though.
Is the choke wired open at least? If not, that's a good place to start. It could be staying closed, not giving you enough air until you goose it.

What's your fuel pressure?
