What is this?

I've got a 66 327 with 624 casting heads on it, I pulled what I believed to be the coolant temp sensor, but I can't seem to find one that fits the hole it was in in the head.

Anybody know what I'm looking for?

Re: What is this?

Are you taking about what is between #1 and #3 plugs?

That's part of a mechanical temperature gauge.

Yes, sorry I didn't make it more clear. That's what I thought it was. But I can't seem to find a sensor that would go there.

Re: What is this?

Yes it's a coolant temp sender. You use adapter bushings to get the size needed. It looks like there is an adapter screwed into the head in that picture and the sender is screwed into the adapter

Re: What is this?

Or even easier....

Just use the sending unit for a 60s/70s car. Something like, 69 Chevelle 350, 78 Z28 350, etc.
