Vapor Canister
Hey,
I am just wondering how i would know if my vapor canister is bad? Or if there is a way to clean it or not? And do anyone know where to buy the hoses that come off the canister?
Thanks

Usually you'll get a really strong gas smell under the hood when they're going bad. The hoses on top should be normal vacuum hose while one of them should be a fuel line hose due to the gas vapors coming from the gas tank. Some thirdgens have a filter on the bottom that can be changed. Another part that can go bad are the circular black purge valves on the gas line.

The hoses are just vacuum and fuel line hose, you can get that stuff at any autoparts store for very cheap. Just take pictures of where each hose leads to, remove the hoses, and bring them to autozone and match them up with the correct sized hose (inside diameter). Just make sure you put the fuel line hose you buy on the fuel line.

If you have not done this yet or any others that want to I suggest taking it off in one piece. Do not break any plastic hose connecters.
I use a razor knife on the end hoses that are on the connection slicing it long ways down the middle of the hose then gently peal it off of the connecter. Once its out its easer to work with.
I cant remember the exact name of this piece but I have seen a diagram of what's inside of it. There are small springs in it and thin rubber valves.
Its complex inside. It needs to be replaced because if the lines are rotting imagine what the thin rubber valves look like.
