LT1 Crank no good

What cranks can I use in my 1996 LT1? I was told that a vortech Crank is balanced different than the LT1 due to the light weight pistons and can not be used, even though they have the same part number. Anyone have any info on this?

Re: LT1 Crank no good

Yes i dont have the bob weight numbers but the LT1 crank is balanced for lighter hyper pistons. I also have read the GEN I single piece rear seal 305 crank is closer to correct balance for the LT1 than the GEN I single piece rear seal 350 crank. Found this here: http://www.enginebuildermag.com/1999...-lt1-engine-2/

Hope this helps.
