I was replacing my Alternator in my 91 trans am when i realized my belt was super tight finally got the alternator out and after going to the store replacing it luckily still under warranty, Popped it in and i couldn't get the belt back over it. i tampered with the tensioner for a bit till the sun drained me and i was pissed off. anyone know how to get it to give me some slack?

 

Sounds like you need a new tensioner. It should be this easy:
