1989 Firbird 305 TBI, fuel pump not kicking in when key is turned
Hello, I have an 89 firebird TBI, the other day my car was stalling like mad, the only thing that seemed to help was cracking the gas cap, but I think that was a fluke, later on In the day, I went to start up my car and the fuel pump wouldn't make its ussual buzzing sound when the key was turned. Every time the car stalled the gas gauge said over full, and still remains that way. I just replaced the fuel pump and it didn't fix the problem. Can anyone help please?

Check the usual, fuel pump fuse and relay. Did you replace the strainer and fuel filter as well? Could also be a bad replacement fuel pump. Good luck.

Fuel pump fuse and relay as well. Way better to rule those two out before you drop your tank

Luckily I didn't have to drop the tank, how can I test the relay?

Best way is to apply 12v power to the test terminal located at the relay. This is from an '88 service manual, but basically the same. Good luck.
