Let's play "name that part"!

Hey guys and gals. While going through my T/A, I found this hook thingy.

I have no idea what it is or if it even belongs to the car. Any ideas? Perhaps part of the jack?

I'd appreciate any help in identifying it. Thanks.

Looks like a aftermarket battery hold down.

That might be what holds the spare tire in place behind the pass. side rear panel. Or part of it anyway.

Yeah, it's the hook used to hold down a spare tire in the spare tire well, missing the wingnut and the jack base as the upper clamp.

Exactly. I was wondering if it even belonged to a car at all.

I looks like the part that hooks into the scissor jack to wind it up and down. Hook goes into the jack and the tire iron goes on the end of it to spin it.

Thank you! That makes sense, but I don't think it's original to the car.

Does anyone know if these cars came with scissor jacks at any time? I always thought they used a socket type wrench or a click-type jack.

Our cars came with a scissor jack, but there was a socket type extension that fit to the jack and a ratchet type wrench that went on to do the twisting.

However none of the last seven 3rd gens I've owned have had any of the tire changing equipment Lol!

That looks like the current style GM jack. Maybe someone was using one with that car and left the handle in the car?

This is basically what you should have had from the factory. Your tire may have been different. This is the aluminum spare.
