Severe manifold question need help.

hey guys. Im buiding up my firebird it was origionally v6 mpfi with little mods. I blew that up cuz i pushed it like a v8. So im in the process of swapping the v8 in full rebuild everything hot tanked polished up heads polished 4bbl carb 1 1/2 " headers real dual no cats with 70 series flowmasters. my dad told me of his old chevelle hes got a weiano racing manifold for the 350. i jumped on the idea. i get up to my old house where its stored yadda yadda its in really good conditon just looks all white instead of that metallic colour but n e way i get the sucker off easy its all good i turn it over and a piece like 2" by 3" has lifted up and cracked on eather side of it but its still all connected. i was wondering if its gonna be possible to weld thatsucker back up get my soft dremel bit and polish it back to health. its a killer manifold weiano high rise racing manifold its perfect cuz i get a crazy hood scoop cuz with my 3 1/2 inch edelbrock air filter with a K&N filter on it . the stock hood wont shut. heheheh. yeah just wanna know if its possible. thanks oh yea also this bad boys gettin 3.11 gear ratio with posi and edelbrock panhard bar torque arm and front strut braces heheh tell me good news guys.. thanks

CR,

Aluminum castings can be welded successfully. You can buff and peen the repair area after welding to make it appear to be original. Make sure the casting is not warped or deformed after welding.

Incidentally, welcome aboard!

Welcome to the board.

I would wonder which manifold it is. Putting a racing manifold on a street engine (even a stout one) can cause low RPM soggies and result in LESS performance than using a more appropriately sized manifold. Do you have some numbers off of it or a name?

It's spelled Weiand, by the way. I have a Weiand 8000 smog legal intake on my Malibu right now, soon to be replaced with one of their small underhood blowers so I'm fairly familiar with their product line.
