dissappointment at the chasis dyno
last month i finished installing a new motor in my 89 trans am.the engine is a 350 bored 60 over,13-1,292 .525 solid cam, roller rockers 1.55 rr,weiland team g manifold with 750 holley, motown heads.SO anyway i was very curious what kind of power i was making.so i took my car to the chasis dyno.the car made two runs with a/f sniffer.the best the car would do is 220 hp 300 tq.the cam should be good to 6500 rpm.the guy running the test says the car is falling on its face at about 4500 rpms.the dyno operator ask me about my timing and i say its at 12 degrees.could my car be starving for fuel although the a/f was hovering at 12.2:1.someone suggested that i should time the car by ear not degrees, provide that i dont run into detonation.the distributor is advancing so that rules that out.i need to lean jets a couple sizes.
any suggestions are welcome.

advance is not all there is to ignition
What type of fire are you getting. If its falling on its face its probably bc there is insufficent secondary voltage at higher rpm. You don't say anything about the ignition mods.
That thing should be hauling a$$ beyond 4500. The usual culprits for high RPM lay-down are related to no enough fuel (check fuel pressure while at WOT and revved up, not at idle), not enoug air (the secondaries are not opening- measure manifold vacuum with a guage as the RPMs climb- shouldn't go over about 2" of vacuum), not enough spark advance (you've already checked that), weak ignition (bad module or not enough voltage to the dist. or the coi is fried) and bad valvesprings (valve float at low RPM duel to wild cam but weak springs- will usually cause the engine to hit an RPM "wall" whether under power or free revving).
Hope that gives you a few new avenues to explore at least.
Also wondering- what kind of dyno? Mustang Dynos typically read much lower than DynoJets in the HP numbers.

the dyno was a dyno jet.i have a fuel gauge on the regulator i have it set at 7 pounds.i need to hook up a gauge outside of the engine in my view while i apply wot.so until then i wont know.in the mean time im going to check the ignition fire voltage.thanks u two for helping out.
