Center-Bolt Chrome Valve covers

Hi Third gen members!!!
I just purchased a set of stock-looking chrome valve covers from Rick's Camaro's website for $78.00. I noticed that they have center bolt application with no side holes. His website cites it fits 1986-1987 and 1997 LS motors My 86 IROC has perimeter bolt applications.

I am pretty sure that the heads on the 86 don't have center bolt applications, but what if I was to shoot rivets in the holes ( I am a Aircraft Structural Journeyman) or install chrome low profile bolts and locate the holes along the perimeter. Do you think this is do-able?

Thanks for your time.

Re: Center-Bolt Chrome Valve covers

You won't be happy with that. Perimeter valve covers have reliefs to accommodate the 4 bolts. Also, center bolt covers have a ridge around the gasket surface that helps the seal, which if a hole was drilled through it would promote an oil leak.

You should get the right covers.
