I cant get a grip on the road. Just smokes tires, what you recommend??
Hey there.. I just dropped the ramjet 350 motor into my car with a th-350 w/ med stall & shift kit. I have been driving it a little and I cannot get grip on the road. I have nice new tires, and every time I touch the gas the rear tires bark. Its almost scary to drive. my car is a 82, so im not sure what the rear gear ratio is, but I heard going to 3.42 or 3.27 posi rear would be the best route, and others say traction bars.. what do you guys recommend? I really want to get a new rear, but no one is willing to part with one too cheap, and Im just about out of money. Just let me know what you guys think I should do, Im open to suggestions.. I just wish I could find a nice rear for it, I think that would be the best route, but then again, I dont know much.. thats why I am asking here.. Maybe just traction bars?? let me know what you guys think.

Slappers are not an option on coil-spring rears.
start with stiffer lower control arms, and LCA relocation brackets. see where that gets you.
if you need more grip, get an aftermarket torque arm(I really like my GlobalWest Trac-Link).
adjustable shocks have helped me a bit too, but they are on the pricey side for goooood ones(read: HAL)
I may go to variable rate springs when I put the car back together(though unfortunately, all VR springs are of the lowering variety - I haven't seen any stock ride height ones yet)
Avoid Michelin Pilot Sport MXX tires. They have awesome cornering grip and are terrific in the rain, but absolutely blow for acceleration.
