88 trans am gta fuel pump replacement
88 trans am gta fuel pump replacement
I have an '88 trans am that has an access panel fabricated to get to the fuel pump / sending unit. However, the lines are solid tubing and it is all one piece. Is there an easy way to get to these connectors without dropping the rear end? (Whole reason for the access panel since this is the second time this has failed and I don't want to pay a shop to do it again). Just wondering if I need to cut the lines (and with what?) or how to accomplish pulling this sending unit out. Thanks

Seems like it would have the best chance of success (success = a clean, even cut).
I suppose you could try it with a hacksaw or something, since you won't be flaring the ends. You'd just need to clean up the burs and flashing they'd create.
You're attempting something that the General didn't intend to be done. So I guess there isn't a "right" way. Whatever method gets the job done in a neat and clean fashion is probably as close to right as there is.
