Does this seem like a good build up?

I've been working on the interior and exterior of my camaro for a while and want to start the engine. If i order it by the 31st i'll get free shipping and all i'd have to pay was for handeling.

This is what i have in mind:
New L98 Short Block
L31 ported Vortec heads
Vortec Baseplate (needed for the vortec heads)
SLP Runners
53mm TB (stock TB bored)
Ported Plenum
LT4 Hot Cam w/ 1.6:1 roller rockers
Full Exhaust

I know i'm not counting the small parts but there is a lot to list.

that cam is to big for the valve springs on the head, they will float, I think the max recommended lift is only around .460

Assume your ordering through SDPC? Anyways, it's not the valve float you need to be concerned with, but the retainers hittingh the guides..suggest you order the modified Vortec heads to accept the higher lift.

Should run fine, keep in mind the Vortec don't have the EGR crossover in the heads.

Any reason you want to spedn the $$ on an L98 short block? Last I saw on the price was like 1200...and that was without a cam...pretty pricey, IMO.

Might do better with a .030 over block from your local machine shop....

I was planning on getting the modified heads.

I thought that 1200 was a good deal. I think the GM shortblock comes with a warranty. What would i expect to pay at a machine shop?
