Is the a/c on my '86 Z-28 computer contolled?

I am doing away with the computer during my engine swap. The stock motor is a LG4 (carbed 305). And I have gotten diff aswers about if the a/c has got to go if I remove the comp. So, any help will be apreciated!

I'm no expert.
But since no one else has posted.
I just got my service manual for my 92.
Inside all it talks about is manual AC. RPO code C60.
If it was manual in 92 I would imagine it's the same for 86.

The A/C will be totally unaffected by the computer thing. The ECM has nothing to do with the A/C.

Rb, what about the w.o.t. cutout? I would recomend a nitrous microswitch wired in series with the ground side of the a/c relay control circuit. If you don't have a way to disconnect the compressor under wot then you will be leaving a bit of power on the table and be burning compressor clutches like crazy.

LG4 doesn't have a WOT cutout... it's not a bad idea to put one in though, especially with the stocl large crank pulley. Compressors live longer when they don't get spun up to 7000 RPM
