How to confirm a World Class T5 came from a V8 ?

Found a world class T5 for sale, the ID tag that's bolted onto them is gone. How can you confirm its from a V8 ?

I'm specifically looking for one from 88-92.

Someone who has a trans shop told me that without the ID tag you cannot confirm what car it was originally in...hopefully that's not true.

Thanks-

26-spline 1-1/8" clutch gear

F-body unit will have the shifter & trans mount pads rotated with respect to the bell housing bolt pattern; can't use one if it's not that version

Thanks for the reply...can anyone else provide further explanation of what sofakingdom described- "the shifter & mount pads will be rotated with respect to the bell housing bolt pattern". Or better yet a photo of this would he helpful in differentiating this from the T5's used in V6 cars.

Unless I'm wrong I think the T5's used in early-mid 90's V6 cars were 26 spline.

What size is the clutch gear in a V6 T5 ?

I'm going to see a T5 this weekend that has no ID tag, need to confirm it is a V8 T5.

Thanks for your help.

6-cyl Camaro/Firebird has the same rotation feature, it is not different from V8. It is however unique to 82-92 F-body cars.

The 6-cyl clutch gear is smaller and has fewer (coarser) splines. 14 I think but I'm not sure as I have absolutely no use whatsoever for a 6-cyl specific part.

The ID tag will tell you, assuming the trans hasn't been altered, whether it has the crappy .63 5th gear (LG4/L03) or the performance .73 (L69/LB9). Other external features, as described, will tell you whether it's for this kind of car and whether it's a V8 one. Don't know the tag #s off the top of my head, I just threw away the .63s whenever I got em back when I was still dumb enough to hallucinate that I was ever going to get one to last more than a couple of months in my car. I have since wised up.

Found this in youtube about differentiating between v6 & v8 T5's;

www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgnorlVtYTg

title of video is "T5 Transmission V6 or V8".
