Car: 05 Nissan Xterra
Engine: 4.0L DOHC
Transmission: 5 Speed Auto w/ OD
Camaro not running....Isuzu Impulse???
I'm sure some of you know that I've screwed my Camaro up pretty bad. I need transportation bad so I can get to and from work and school. I'm keeping the Camaro so I can save up and get a brand new carburated motor and new transmission. For the mean while I'm thinking about an Impulse because I think I can get it for about $400 or less, but I don't know much about them. Maybe there's some of you that do! PLEASE HELP ME!
Does anybody know about the 1982 Isuzu Impulse? How much power, or anything bad with these year models? It's a diesel too.
It's normal for a diesel to smoke isn't it? I haven't seen it run or anything, but I've heard that most diesel's smoke. It has 120000 miles on it. If you'd like to see it, it's on ebay! THANKS!

Diesels only smoke if they are running poorly, if you hammer the throttle at low rpm, or even if you coast in gear at higher rpm. A puff of smoke at startup is normal too. Otherwise they should idle and cruise nice and clean. The nice thing about diesels is they are usually pretty tough, not to mention easy on mantenance since there is simply less to maintain. (no ignition system etc...)
