Power steering question

I am using a third gen Camaro for Chumpcar, Lemons, Lucky Dog road racing. The car has a serpentine belt system and I would like to change the power steering pump and resivor to a remote resivor and open pump and retain the serpentine system. Has anyone done this and if so who`s pieces and parts did you use? Any help out there?

Re: Power steering question

I don't know anyone who has done it but I have seen an open pump and remote reservoir system on S10's with a 2.5L 4cylinder engine. It wouldn't be a direct replacement but it would be a source for parts.

Pulley swap would be easy to remove a v-belt pulley and install a serpentine pulley.

Re: Power steering question

FWIW the V-belt and Serpentine power steering pumps are the same part. So if you can find something that would bolt up to the V-belt bracketry, it should bolt up to the serpentine brackets.

Thanks for the suggestion Joe but I kinda doubt that electric power steering would hold up to eight hours on a road course in a 3100 # car.
