Should I sell it?

Bought my 82 Z28 (crossfire) in 1984 with 12k miles on the clock. It was my daily driver up until abt 1999. Racked up 230k miles. Car was bone stock. Got the bug to start upgrading it. Bought a 87 GTA with a knocking 350 TPI for a parts car. Built a 383 out of the TPI eng and installed it in my 82 along with the fresh probuilt 700R4 and the 9-bolt rear end from the parts car. Wound up needing to get a lot of other stuff from the parts car like brake/fuel lines sway bars; pretty much everything on the bottom side got swapped. I did keep the V-belt set-up.

Ran the 383 with TPI but replaced the intake and runners with Accel parts and ported the stock plenum. Installed a 74211 Lingenfelter cam. Had the stock TPI heads ported and larger valves installed. Comp roller rockers and heavy duty pushrods. Hooker shortie headers
and cat back along with larger injectors and a Holley adjustable fuel press regulator.

After all these mods, there's no way I can run a stock bin so I soldered a ZIF socket into the ECU and started burning chips.
Once I got the chip right it ran pretty good. TONs of torque.

Drove it occasionally then it got parked again; for abt 5 years.

Had to pull the gas tank since the fuel turned to varnish and needed professional help. Got the tank back in and flushed the fuel sys. Replaced the injectors. Ran fine after all that.

After that experience I began starting the car up and driving it around the neighborhood every couple of weeks. That stopped abt 3 years ago and now it only gets started and warmed up every couple of weeks.

I don't really want to sell it. I have a ton of memories with it. However, I just don't drive it any more.

Should I try to sell it? What price range?
Is there much of a market for such a highly modified but stock appearing 35 yr old car? Should I part it out?

Post up some pics. I think there would be some interest in it.

Why don't you drive it? If you really like the car get it on the road! Maybe you will fall in love with again and want to keep it. Or, maybe you will be more certain you are ready to move on. Plus, if you end up selling it you will have the bugs worked out and it will run and drive better for a test drive. A good running car can pull more money when sold.
It's a very personal choice. For me, I've never regretted selling a vehicle that I didn't drive any more. I have regretted selling one that I did still drive.

Don't do this. IMO, it does more harm than good.

If you're considering selling it only because it doesn't get driven, prep it for long term storage and leave it parked.

If you want to drive it once a month or so, drive it for a minimum of 10 miles (Edit: freeway/Interstate) to get it good and hot. Before parking it, treat the fuel and connect a battery maintainer. Change the oil and filter once a year.

If you want to sell because of the cost of insurance/registration, you need the garage space or your wife is on your case, then sell it.

There are five vehicles in our household and only two drivers. The cars are all paid for so the cost of ownership isn't that much to have three of them prep'ed and parked at any one time.

Re: Should I sell it?

youre not ready to sell
Going throught he same thing life just hasnt permitted me to even look at it in the last yr. KNow when its fired up nothings better so its staying
At least you have the option of. If you dont care about having that then dump it. Any oldish car are getting crazy prices for junk so keep that in mind meaning if youre "done" with the hobby...otherwise you get the itch it will just cost more
At least you know what you got which is half the battle.
