Cs-144 swap on an 86 with v belts

Hey guys, I have a 86 trans am 305tpi with v belts. I've searched through many threads and can't get a definite answer. I need a new alternator and wanted to upgrade to the cs-144. I see that some cars need a new bracket while earlier Thirdgen's do not. I have a v belt set up with the alternator having a 5 ribbed flat belt. The alternators mounting tabs are 180 degrees apart. Do I still need the special bracket?

If the alternators are clocked the same then a special mounting bracket should not be required although the distance between the mounting bolts may be different.

The pulleys should swap over or you could convert your engine to use a serpentine belt.
