AFR valve seal removal question

AFR 210 heads with 8mm valves. Is there anything special or different about AFR head valve seals? I am trying to remove mine and they don't want to come off. I have always just pried them off in the past with other heads but these don't want to let go.

Re: AFR valve seal removal question

Are you certain the valves are 8mm and not 11/32"?

Re: AFR valve seal removal question

Yes, they're 8mm. I figured it out they are just harder than most due to serrations or grooves on the outside of the valve guide. Holds the seal firmly. I used two Z shaped flat blade screwdrivers as levers and pried them back and forth and they finally popped loose.
I replaced them with viton seals for LS and they went on fine. Even though the AFR seals are listed at .530 the LS fit tightly on the guide and went down far enough to give good retainer clearance.
