Curious to hear some feedback about running a Comp Cam XR270HR in a low mileage Stock 305 Vortec out of a C1500.

Running a M28 T56 6 Speed

Going into a 85 Chevy S10
Weighs 2900lbs with stock motor/trans

I pieced this motor together when I just started learning about SBC's

Now after a year of reading and planning different builds I'm considering selling everything and starting fresh.

I want to build a MPG beast and obviously this is not the combination for this but still would like to hear feedback on the current setup.

As is the motor and trans are sitting in my truck on mounts not hooked up, and everything is for sale online. I have the chance to sell everything on the list Friday, somebody wants to come buy everything in 1 shot for $800 not including the carb, t56, or electric fans.

 

Did one in a stock rebuilt 350 L98. Ran strong. Think it will be nice in a 305. Good power band

 

Nice! I got it off a guy running a 350. Any reason this would be too much cam for this 5.0L? Does a cam like this, with my current set up, hurt my MPG?

Also I should've mentioned earlier that my truck has 3.08 gears stock. I was considering swapping 3.73's or 4.10's but probably the 3.73 for fuel effiency.

 

Eh smaller would be better for mpg but a good tune it should still do well since it's small cubes
