I have a 89 Trans am GTA. A while back I changed to motor and put a 5.7 in it (Originally a 5.0). I have always have had issue with my vehicle idling since. Seems like the computer would always take forever and then finally would relearn the idle.

However, Lately my car will not idle at all!! It runs beautiful....as long and my foot is on the gas pedal. I have gotten a custom chip for my car as it was had some modifications to it and put that in it as well but still wont idle at all.

My next step is the check to make sure I am having constant 12v at the computer, then the IAC, then the EGR. Has anyone else experienced this or have a good direction to point me towards? Thanks!

 

Check engine light on? Have you checked the fuel pressure? Do you have a scantool? A scantool would be invaluable to determine what's going on.

 

What did you do to compensate for a 350?

Did you swap injectors?
What was the chip change?

 

No check Engine light at all. Runs beautiful just wont idle at all. As soon as your foot comes off the gas it'll die. I can hold it at about 700-800 RPMS on the gas pedal and its fine. Been trying to find a actual computer to plug into the port where you can read the idle, adjust computer settings etc. But have not been able too.

 

I did also do a injector change, and also I had a chip made. Advised them of everything i had done to the vehicle and they programmed the chip and I plugged it in.
