Need a new 1982 T/A w/CFI evaporative (charcoal) canister

I have a 1982 Trans Am that is 100% stock, it has the LU5 5.0 Cross-Fire V8. I need a new evaporative canister however I can't seem to locate a new one that I can purchase. Does anyone know where I can find a new one or one that I can retrofit to work. For the time being I can get around by loosing up the gas cap (to keep the pressure from bursting the fuel tank), but if I run it on a hot day it will stall due to the old canister not functioning. I have replaced the purge valve and purge solenoid which hasn't fixed the problem so the culprit appears to be the old canister which is 35 years old.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

Rock Auto has a listing for it, but currently out of stock.

I've been hunting for one for my '84 LG4 - same thing, out of stock. I think they're discontinued.

Maybe one off a different car but same or similar dimensions would work though.

What's wrong with it?

You used to be able to get the filter part of it, if the rest of it isn't broken or something.

Is the tank vent valve working right? It's at the end of an 18" or so hose coming out below the tank and in a bit from your left rear wheel area

+1 for what henryd3 said.

I planned to rebuild my canister (if possible) using charcoal for aquariums and something like a scotch-brite pad for a filter. Although I will be removing my emissions crap, I will be keeping the canister and related fuel tank venting and valves. Just not computer controlled.
