Power steering gear kit
Looking for knowledge. I own a 89 iroc with FE2 suspension. I have ordered a rebuild kit from " Edelmann, part # 8780. Looking at the kit there is not the square gasket for the side cover. They say it has been upgraded to an o-ring which is in the kit. I am a little apprehensive as I do not see a 0-ring groove on the cover or the mating body. I would like to keep this unit as I have owned the car since new. Does anyone have any experience or familiar with this upgrade. Thankyou thirdgens.
Anyone ?

Re: Power steering gear kit
I'm going to guess that the Edelmann 8780 is for a steering gear that has a snap ring side cover, not a 4-bolt side cover.

What's wrong with the box? Leaking? All the kit addresses is seals and gaskets.

After start-up the steering is tight until I move it back and forth a couple of times them it is normal. I have owned it since 89 and I figure the seals and bearings are due for replacement . This could be the cause of this issue.
