New Engine Swap/Setup
Hi guys,
I talked to a tech rep at summit racing yesterday to figure out what I would need to reach 350/400 hp on a Chevy SB 350 bored .030 over. He gave me a breakdown of what I should get and I was wondering what you guys thought I would need in addition to this list or change these items..
My Current Specs for 1991 Camaro RS:
-SBC 305 TBI
----Kinda of bad shape engine (leaky rings/valves)
-700R4 Transmission
----Stock; shifts well could use a rebuild eventually
New Specs From Summit Tech:
-SBC 350 TBI
----Cam: Comp Cam Kit CCA-K12-213-3 (292H)
----EFI: FITech 30003 (or 30002 if nitrous)
----Torque Converter: Boss Hog 48442
----Vacuum Reservoir: SUM-G1464
----Gasket Set: SUM-G2600
----Throttle Cable Corrector: TCI Auto 370816
----Piston Ring Set: Still Unknown
----Heads: L98 Aluminum Heads (Port and Polish)
----Intake: Edelbrock Performer 2101 (Port and Polish)
My question is, do I need the EFI system or can I get away with cop car injectors in stock TBI, I assume I would need a tune either way?
Is the setup going to provide me with 350-400hp or do I need to change my order up? I haven't purchased anything so it isn't a big deal.
Will I need a new fuel pump to provide the pressure to the injectors?
Should I build the engine into a stroker with a 400 crank or would that be overkill for a TBI setup?
The 350 was rebuilt by ACDelco at some point of it's life and that must've been when the cylinders were bored .030 over.
I can provide pictures if needed of the 350 and 305. Please let me know if the tech is just upselling me on parts or if that's what is needed to get that power, thanks!
