GOTTA LOVE THE SMALL BLOCK CHEVY
Not in a third gen, but a small block is a small block right? So after sitting since 2006, we pulled my dad's boat out of the shed the other day. Checked the oil, clean. So we throw in a new battery and cranked it, no problem. Sprayed a shot of starting fluid and it sputtered! So I dump a little gas in the carb and it fired up! Little tip for when you score that barn find car that hasn't run since who knows when... Check the fuel lines! We couldn't keep it running without pouring gas in the carb. Took the fuel line out of the pump and screwed in a fitting with a hose in a can of gas to make sure the pump was working. Pump worked. Motor ran perfect even with 11 year old gas! Well after all that i went back to "keep it simple stupid!" Traced the fuel line back to the tank and found a spot where the old hose and kinked and cracked. I'll fix that this weekend. Moral of the story? Don't underestimate the good old Chevy motor

My trans am (305 TPI) sat since 2005 as well. Engine was fine. Fuel system was shot and ECM was dead. 190 psi compression on all 8.
