Oil gallery plugs
Oil gallery plugs
So, I'm assembling my first 350 (fingers crossed). I pretty much have all the plugs in, but I have 3 left over, and I'm not sure where they go. And the three threaded ones in the back, how deep am I supposed to screw those in?

Gallery plugs are pipe thread. Pipe thread is tapered. Put some thread sealer on the plugs and install them tight.
Re: Oil gallery plugs
I've got the 5 threaded plugs in already. I have three small ones that need to be tapped in. I'm just not sure where they go. And, in regards to the three in the rear, I'm supposed to screw them in all the way, right?

Yes. Put some thread sealer on them. Def dont want them leaking. The plugs in the front around the cam bore, are you tapping them? So you can thread in plugs or are you using the mini freeze plugs? You can put sealer on them if you want. If they lek a little it wont hurt as it drains back into pan. Def dont want them coming out tho.....

Don't forget to put one under the rear main cap, oil filter side, about an inch up into the block.

(stolen from somebody on another forum...) If you don't, the oil won't go through the filter, instead the filter will just be a sort of accumulator hanging off the side of the block over there, with no flow through it.
I generally thread the holes at the front of the cam so I can put threaded plugs in those instead of welch plugs; and I drill a small (about #65 or so) hole in the 2 on the sides but not the one on top.
