1985 Berlinetta stopped getting fuel while driving
I have a 1985 Berlinetta with 2.8 V6 with 53,000 miles on it. Last night I was driving it then suddenly I noticed it was losing power. No matter how much I pressed on the accelerator, the RPMS would not go up and the car was decreasing in speed. I pulled into a gas station and the car would die as if it was not getting fuel.
I restarted and the same thing would happen each time. I could get the RPMs to go up for a little bit but they would sustain much past 1000 and the car would do a backfire. Then the car would die again if I took my foot off the accelerator.
I had it towed home and now it will barely run for a few seconds. You can smell a slight smell of gas.

Check for spark, fuel pressure and volume. Test exhaust back pressure for stopped up cat. converter, or just unbolt the y pipe. If is cat. the problem the engine will run and rev with exhaust undone.
