Has anyone had any experience with these? I bought a new set of VC's and have a few bucks left in the budget and was wondering if these are worth it. I don't want to spend the $350 or better for quality aluminum full rollers, these are $90 for 16. I have a stock 5.0 TPI.
I have Crane 11807-16 stamped roller tips in my '86 TPI. It didn't hurt anything, and they've been running since about 1999. Until and unless the springs are upgraded, the rockers may not make a great deal of difference, so don't expect to get any more RPM out of the finished product. But it can't hurt to get a few more thousandths lift from the stock cam.
FWIW, aluminum rockers are not necessarily better. Forged steel rockers certainly are, but aluminum has its issues and problems.
Thanks guys. The pic was of Jegs brand and not self aligning. I figured it would not make a big gain in power. A little throttle response it what i would hope for. I think I will pass on them for now. I figured since I was changing the VC"s what's a few more nuts to remove!
You won't get any throttle response. The win is extra valve lift. But it's not an enormous win. My volumetric efficiency calculations agreed quite well with the rated HP of my 86 LB9 and went up by 3.8 HP with the 1.6 rockers.
I was doing springs, and stem seals, and I have seen the bottom blow out of higher mileage stock rockers so I threw them in as part of the process.
I can say that I was very impressed with the build quality of the Comp rockers. All the Comp products I have used have been amazing. I'm a big fan of their parts and they are always very helpful when you call.
I have some Comp Cams aluminum narrow body 1.6 RR I might be selling. I also have the aligning plates & comp cams pushrods. I was going to use them but I didn't want to swap valve covers. They are used but nice still. They would be higher than $90 but way less than $350.
I have Jegs self-aligning 1.6 full roller aluminum rockers on my Express van. No trouble out of them at all and that is running over 350 lbs open spring pressure and nearly .540" lift.

How much are you looking to get for them? My new VC's are 1/4' taller with no inner baffles so clearance should work. I have a 91 305. I take it the aligning plates replace self aligning Rockers correct?
