Doing springs and seals. These parts OK?

Stock LB9- soon with headers. I am thinking of using OEM spec parts unless there is a no-brainer upgrade to do while I am in there.

Re: Doing springs and seals. These parts OK?

Use the valve seal set for a Vortec 350. You'll know they're the right ones since the set has 16 positive seals and no O-rings. Or you can use two sets of the seals linked, and toss the O-rings in the trash.

If you're replacing the springs, you'll probably want to trash the rotators. Just be ready because the spring seats in the head will probably be different for intake/exhaust. So you'll probably need to shim the springs to get the installed height right. Probably a good time to dump the oil shields. Might replace the retainers and locks while you're at it.

As you may have guessed, changing valve springs can be a gateway task to buying aftermarket heads.

Retainers, locks, shims, and 1.6 rockers.

As said - throw away the rotators and oil splash shields.

Thanks good advice. I don't know about the 1.6 rockers. The engine doesn't breath anyway. I assume the 1.6's will add something to a stock LB9 with headers?

I used the Comp Magnum roller tip rockers and with everything else stock I got about 4 peak HP. I would assume headers, etc would amplify that gain. I've seen claims of 10-15 HP..... It's cheap power and it's a straight bolt on. Also sometimes you do see wear to the rockers pivot points so having them there at the ready will insure no waiting for parts.
