AC delete

1984 Trans AM.
AC has no gas and to be honest I would never use it anyway since I live in LA and just wind down my windows.
I want to remove all the AC components in my bird and especially the condenser that sits in front of the radiator. Can I just remove that first? Or do I have to remove everythign at once?
Where can I buy a steel factory AC delete box with the correct size motor in it?
cheers,
Samuel

Re: AC delete

You don't have to do it all at once. You can yank all the lines, drier, and condenser right now... Then you can buy an AC delete pulley on ebay and swap it with the compressor. When you find an AC delete box, you can then pull the AC box and evap stuff.

Re: AC delete

Thanks Bullydawg!
Any tips on things that I should look out for? I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this. I will be installing a new radiator soon so I thought I should get rid of the AC condenser while I'm there.
cheers mate!

Re: AC delete

I did it piece by piece in my 88 TBI. it started with the lines and ac box when i found factory non ac heater box at a local junkyark. I ripped the ac lines and the ac box out, then took ac condenser out. Now im about to order the ac delete pulley and get the final piece gone!

Re: AC delete

84 TransAm has 4 V-belts. Just remove the A/C belt.

There is a fiberglass A/C delete box that allows you to use your current blower fan. The factory non-A/C box used a different size fan. Here is a link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/82-92-Third-...OaNa1Q&vxp=mtr

I believe the seller will give a discount to TGO members.

ebay also has other cheaper plastic boxes available, but I know nothing about them.
