This is on a 88 2.8l on the passenger side in the engine bay ,i need to know what this is ,thank you

Axle/Gears: 3.23 10bolt waiting to explode.

If you really want, you can eliminate this from your car.

But it won't gain you any net power benefit, just cleans up the engine bay and coolant hose routing a bit.
