Valve stem seal and spring questions for stock motor
1. Did I get the correct parts?
Spring Set: Edelbrock 5802
Intake Seals: Fel-Pro SS72527
Exhaust Seals: Fel-Pro SS72877
2. What are the small o-rings in each set for? Answered. They go on the valve stem below the umbrella.
3. Should I lubricate the seal surface-valve stem with engine oil before installing?

Re: Valve stem seal and spring questions for stock motor
1. Not the best springs in the world, but they'll do.
2. They go inside the retainer, after you put it on over the valve stem, and before you put in the keepers and remove the compressor. Totally worthless and without need if you're using those actual SEALS. Throw them away.
3. Yes.
Note that you need to throw away the "rotators" on the exh valves, and put shims under the springs in an equal thickness. It takes around .100" of more shim.
What retainers & keepers did you get?

Thanks. I didn't buy any new retainers or keepers. Figured I could/should reuse the original ones. No?

Tootie, seriously, check this out: https://www.alexsparts.com/
You would have gotten better quality parts and even saved some $$$.
He has everything you need. Just tell Alex what you are trying to do and he will take care of you.
Like you, he is in California.
Your Edelbrock springs say, "Designed for use with non-rotator style retainers"
