Cam advise needed, thanks.

Need some feedback for this cam. Anyone know whether it should make power down below or up high? What kind of hp or torque can be expected?
The car came with the cam installed, but it seems rather mild.

Good cam for a mild 350. Its strong from 2500 to 5500 rpm. In a lt1, it would shift by 6000 rpm. In a tpi setup its a good cam to 5000.

Lobes are probably mild with that low lift but the card does not give any advertised duration numbers

Re: Cam advise needed, thanks.

Thanks a lot for your input.
It's in a C4 LT1 and seems to pull harder when the rpms are higher.
The LT1 has stock fuel cut off at roughly 5900, I increased that up to 6300. Not exactly knowing, what parts are used, I hesitated to increase it even further, but it felt like it would like even more rpms.
As a tuning aid we used a G-Tech with 0-60 6 seconds and 1/4 mile not under 14 secs. The driver did make 1/4 runs for the first time and also hit fuel cut off on every pull.

That's why I asked about the cam. I feel it needs more rpms to get better times. I just don't feel like ruining his engine, by putting the fuel cut off even higher.

Re: Cam advise needed, thanks.

That's an older GMPP cam I think has been discontinued. Its a shade milder than Comps 269HR-12 for the LT1 so I think you can look at what Comp recommends here: http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...csid=1106&sb=2

I think Orr is right and you want to be out of it by 5500-5600 RPM and onto the next gear. Its got plenty lift for stock heads or you could add 1.6 rockers to the intakes. Just a work of caution I hope you or someone installed better vlv springs. Stock LT1 vlv springs won't handle that much lift w/o coil bind.

That's the GM 845 cam. Advertised duration about 276/286. It likes to be shifted at 6200-6300 in an LT1. Not well suited to a TPI. With those mild lobes, it's more of a revver than the .050" duration numbers would indicate.

It is difficult to nail your torque and HP peaks w/o a dyno. Or if you have Data Master software to capture a run down the road. You will need a whole lotta runs down the drag strip w/o those items to sort things out.

Goo luck Voodoo.

Really nothing to figure out here.
Lots of us have been there and done that with LT1's and this very same cam.
Just turn the shifts up to 6200 rpm and enjoy it. If that LT1 can't take that rpm, it's ready for a rebuild anyway.
