What makes your RPMs increase?
How does your motors RPMs actually increase? I know there is more to it then just opening the throttle becuase little briggs and straton motors run WOT all the time and you can still adjust the RPMs. What fundemental am i missing here?

lawn mower motors dont run WOT all the time, when u adjust the thingy, towards the rabbit or the turtle, it moves the throttle plate in the carb. same thing with a car engine. when u press the gas, it opens the throttle, and since the air inside the intake manifold is kept in a vacume, air gets inside, and more air means more explosion\fire inside the combustion chamber, meaning more power pushing the piston harder, making it move faster. u let off the gas, the throttle closes some, and less air is alowed to enter, vacume increases and less air to the combustion chamber means less power.

Your B and S lawn mower has a governor that keeps the rpm at a specific level. When the throttle is on the rabbit, the governor is at it's maximum rpm(the throttle isn't open that far when it's not under load). Under load, the throttle may be open all the way.
