Breaking in Melonized Dist. gear

I converted a L-31 to a carb. which required installing a Melonized gear to run with the roller cam. I know to prime engine and put assembly lube on gear. Can you break in gear with Mobile One oil and do you need to run engine for 20 min. like you would in breaking in a cam. Also with this conversion, what plugs might anyone recommend? Thanks for any and all help
