Question about charcoal canister...
I am removing my CCC and distributor and replacing them with non-cc so basically I won't have a place to hook up the charcoal canister. I know it helps vent the fumes from the gas tank so I'm left with a little quandry as to what exactly should I do with the ugly disgustingly rusted out can uglying up my engine compartment. Do I just remove it anyway? Do I vent the line out of the hood? Do I put a breather of some sort on the line/canister? If so, what's the part number for it?
Thanks for the help

the line that comes from the gas tank will have fumes of gas
It should not really be plugged or really even vented to the outside air. that was the whole reason it was installed. It will be at it's worst on the hotter days. Technically, your car will not pass emission or even yearly inspection without it.

well - totally disregarding the environment
you can just leave it open to the air. Really, I don't think much vapor evaporates out there anyway. Maybe on a real hot day.

Gas these days is so loaded up with crap it's hardly gas anymore. They add all these "octane" boosters and detergents. The problem is that these additives evaporate very quickly. A tank of gas can easily go bad in just a week if left to vent to the atmosphere. Almost like leaving a bag of potato chip sitting out, they go stale real fast.

well i removed my canister in early dec
(i removed the EE can to put in a vacuum pump for the power brakes) and it has been sitting open. I have not noticed any real difference with running quality but i do have 30percent race gas in there (which was bought about 1 year ago).
I guess you could put a fuel filter on the end. That would allow gas to escape but would offer some resistance to airventing in.
I don't know what other options one would have.. it can't be sealed/plugged.
