Electric water pump question vs stock

Water pump upgrade question

I need a new Water pump in my 88gta

I have a 383 now and I was wondering how reliable electric water pump are for a 99% street car vs a nice electric one
I was wondering about a 35gpm unit
Something cheap are they honestly as reliable as a stock style pump

Re: Electric water pump question vs stock

You shouldn't rely on anything that's "cheap". You get, at most, exactly what you pay for. I would trust a cheap mechanical pump over a cheap electric pump any day. I drove my 86 for three years with a rusted cooling system on a $17 Autozone water pump. Worked just fine till I pulled it off for an upgrade.
