Rebuilding Engine...
I think I'm gonna get my 305 TPI rebuilt it has 135,000 miles on it. Im not going for a complete tear down for money reasons but Im gonna run NOS so what will Ineed to replace and how much will it cost? If you could help me out it would be great. Thanks
62,
Unless you're planning to run an almost useless volume of nitrous, you really need to get well into the bottom end of the engine to bolster the main bearing caps, rods, all fasteners, and probably even replace the cast grey iron crank with a cast nodular at a minimum (forged steel would be best). A forged crank kit with the four bolt main caps installed on the three center mains would be my choice.
The factory stock cast pistons might survive the extra pressure, but I wouldn't stake any large sums on it.
You might want to post on the Power Adder board to see what soem of the "bottle" people are doing, and how long their engines have survived.
