Distributor swap
Swapping distributor and carb on our 355 we swapped out late last year. So marked out old distributor where rotor pointed both front and back. Pulled it and dropped in MSD street fire. When I get it dropped in the rotor doesn’t line up exactly with the marks I made. It ends up being just off to the side of the marks. I’m talking 1/8”. Could the gears on distributor be slightly different from the OEM? Are gears sometimes slightly off? I played with it for over an hour and what feels like 1 tooth puts it way off. So this to me is correct but I’m always second guessing. I’ve never changed a distributor that’s why I’m asking.

Re: Distributor swap
You're fine, will need to set timing anyway but you are close enough.
