Timing

Hey guys, I have a 2004 LQ4 that I completely disassemble with the intentions to rebuild, issue is that now its time to assemble again but newbie me forgot to set the timing before taking it apart. Whats my next move?

What timing are you talking about?

If it's the gears & chain, set them dot-to-dot at #1 & #6 TDC. (which will actually be #6 firing) If it's the ignition timing, you can't set it mechanically, it uses a crank trigger and tuning in the ECM.

#1 TDC the dots on the gears will both be at the 12 o'clock position. If the crank gear dot is at 12 and the timing gear is at 6 which lines them up then the camshaft is timed at #6 TDC.
