Run fine then stalls or runs fine then does not start possible FIX
Hello Everyone, I thought I would post this fix for people who might have the same stalling problem I did and found out it was an easy fix. I have a 1992 Camaro with 350. I put the battery back in and started it up with a turn of the key after 6 months storage and drove it 20 miles home. Turned it off for a moment to move some cars around. When I went to start it, it would run fine for about 20 seconds then stall like I turned the key off. It would then start right back up and do the same thing or stall when I put it in gear. The next day it would turn over fine but would not run. Long story short it was the ignition control module under the distributor cap. $50 bucks at NAPA and an easy DIY fix. 3 screws to take the little plate off that covers the distributor. 2 screws on the cap itself. I popped off 4 ignition wires to get the cap out of the way (Make sure they go back in the correct order). 2 more screws for the module and the 3 connectors to it. Can't mess the connectors up they only go on one way. Clean the spot for the module and put the grease that comes with it on the back and put it back together in reverse order. Its about 30 minutes for even a novice like me. Good (relatively inexpensive) thing to try first. Hopefully that helps someone down the road.
