Smoke on Acceleration
I have a 1989 RS with the 305 TBI and a 700r4 trans. Recently ditched the stock exhaust including the manifolds as well as the smog pump when I replaced the transmission. I installed true dual exhaust with headers and I notice that upon acceleration (usually after engine comes to temp) there is white smoke that comes out of only the drivers side tailpipe. This doesn't happen when I accelerate from a stop but rather when I push the gas pedal (even slightly) at highway speeds and it last only a second. Sometimes it also happens randomly between 30-60 mph but mostly over 70. Coolant level stays fine but I usually run through a quart of oil every 3 weeks but it leaks from the main seal and pressure sensor. Engine has around 200,000 miles on it so I am sure its due for a rebuild as it randomly has fits at idle where it bogs down, vibrates, and stalls. Usually I have to give it a lot of gas when restarting it after this happens or it just stalls again.
