92 RS Engine Help
Hey all, I have been working on a 92 RS. Got it running after it has sat in a garage for 17 years. Fuel delivery issues mainly. So I have new from the pump to the TBI's now. I've deleted the EGR and the smog pump. Going to install headers and full 3" all the way back with cat delete. Looking at cam shaft install now, trying make sure I have a roller cam or flat tappet. 99% sure I have the roller, but how do you really know other than pulling the heads, which I really don't want to get into right now. I cannot locate the engine ID stamp. Where is this sucker located? Wanted to research the engine and see what it has in it and go from there. looking at installing the Sum 8800 cam. also need to know what size or weight of springs I would use going with an after market cam like that. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Re: 92 RS Engine Help
Pull a push rod. If it's around 7.3", it's a roller. If it's closer to 7.8", it's a flat.
Any of the cam mfrs' entry-level 1.25" dia springs will work fine with that cam. Not a real stress situation. Comp 981, Crane, Howards, etc. Summit might even have some. Even the old "Z28" springs would be OK.
