Odd ignition issue
So I have an odd one, and I’m wondering if anyone else has seen this before.
I cranked up my car this morning after changing the springs under the rotor to slow the advance curve, and I noticed a miss immediately. I put a timing light on it to verify it after the spring change, and I had zero signal from #1. I checked other wires, and all had spark. When I removed the #1 boot from the distributor, it would spark an inch+ into the boot, and the cylinder would start firing. Once I put the boot back on, no spark.
In short, the #1 cylinder only sparks when the spark plug boot is not fully seated on the distributor cap. Once pulled away from the cap, it shows a strong spark.

Re: Odd ignition issue
Compare the inside of the boot on the #1 wire to another wire. Sounds like something is up with the connection.
