milkshake oil

I replaced my intake a while back, and didn't reallize I let some antifreeze into the engine. I drove it for maybe 3 or 4 miles, and checked the oil. That's when I saw the oil had turned to milkshake. I emediately changed the oil, and I could see the coolant draining out with the oil. It's always had a little tick when running, but it seems a little worse now. It's not like a rod, I've heard that before. This is like a loose rocker, but I checked that. I also tried to find the sould with a length of fuel hose. could I have eaten a cam lobe or clogged a lifter? This brings me to the reason I posted this: How do I get rid of all that crap that is now stuck all over the inside of my engine? If I munched the cam or something, it's no biggy. I look at things like that as a chance to upgrade to bigger / better parts. One of my friends told me to put Berrymans Chemtool in the oil and let it run for a while. I have a bottle that has directions on for use in the crankcase, but I've used Chemtool before, and it is evil stuff. I'm afraid it may destroy some of the seals or harm the baerings on a 150K+ engine. It was rebuilt in the mid eighties, but it has been abused since then. My uncle drove it for a while before I got it, and the next time I got in it, it had no oil. I don't know how long it was driven like that, but you get the picture of it's life before me.

Sorry if I got off the subject. So how do I get rid of the milkshake?

You could drain all your oil, change your filter and put 5 liters of deisel in it, run it for 3 minutes, drain it, change filters again and put new oil in it. Havent done it myself but my friend has been doing it for years with no problems. That should get rid of that crap.

I would say, just change the oil with some cheap stuff. Add ONE quart of engine flush (yeap, it's bassicly deisel fuel), run it per recommandation, and drain it.

I don't know about 5 whole quarts of nothing but deisel, but for only for 3 minute, you might have something ? I know with 1 quart of deisel, and 4 quarts oil they say 15 minutes.

85 Berl, it's good you caught it early. It's not so much that it kills the bearings, cause it does, but that milk shake CLUGS up everything in the engine.
