High quality Engine Rebuild kit brand

Looking to have my engine rebuilt with a brand know for high quality products for my 305 TPI/700r4 Camaro Z28. It's my daily and sadly it developed what I beileve to be a rod knock after doing about 5 pulls on my school's dyno . Car has 206,000 miles on the engine and i honestly love the car how it is for now and just want to keep it stock so i can continue to drive it and know that my engine is in better shape than before.

I did not pull the pan , but i did find metallic particles in the oil when I checked, and positive none of that was there since I checked it prior to dyno testing.

Re: High quality Engine Rebuild kit brand

There are rebuild kits (pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump, gaskets) from Summit or Jegs that would be fine for a stock rebuild. However, the block will likely need machine work as will the heads. Once you're done with all of that, the cost to rebuild that 305 is going to be similar to the cost of a replacement long block. Plus, you said it's your daily driver, so then you need to consider downtime. An engine rebuild with machine work is more than a weekend project.

I would suggest a few options.
1. Buy a new replacement 350 long block and swap it over. (best option)
2. Source a good used 305 or 350 and swap it over. (2nd best option)
3. Source a tired but rebuildable 350, tear it down, rings/bearings/pistons/gaskets and machine work (if needed), put it back together and swap it when it's done.

In all cases, I'm suggesting you have your replacement motor ready to go and then swap it over, which can be done in a weekend as long as you are prepared. This minimizes your downtime and hiccups when you get into it. If you find a good used 305 for cheap, then no issue swapping it in. I would not however rebuild a 305. It cost the same to rebuild a 350. Sounds like you're on borrowed time with the old motor, so a new or good used replacement motor is probably your best bet.
