i've been posting this a few time but no one seems to be able to help so i guess i'll try one more time. when i was working on my car i had to turn the key to the on postition but not turn the car on. it did this fine but when i went to go and turn the key off it wouldnt move so when i tried to force the key back by turning it the plate on the outside snapped off and the key came out but the igniton still did not turn. do i have to remove the whole steering column to fix this or is it somthing easily fixed. and i did make sure the car was out of gear and the stearing wheel wasnt locked when i tried to turn it over. if some one could give me a suggesttion on how to get this fixed i would appreciate it very much because i need to get the car started so i can finish off my winter mods. thanks alot

 

You will have to tear the column down far enough to get the lock screw out for the lock cylinder. (under the T/S switch).

There is a cable from the shifter to the column that will prevent the ignition from being turned back to the lock postion unless the car is in park. If you are already in park, you may just need to adjust the cable. (which means, taking the center console apart so you can get to it......)

well it happend when i was taking my transmission out so i had to put the car in neutral and it wouldnt turn back even after i disconeted the shifter and everything so i was wondering where i could find the parts to fix it.thanks
