Looking for a good rebuild kit

I'm looking for a good master rebuild kit for my 305. As much as I'd love to just upgrade to a 350, it's not in the cards right now. I've never rebuilt an engine and figured my 305 would be a good place to start. So does anyone know of a good master rebuild kit without breaking the bank?

I would piece a kit together, I assume your having bored .030 ? So looking for pistons, rings, gaskets and bearings , and a new cam ? What heads cc are being used?
a good 350 core might only be a few hundred dollars. Something to consider

Re: Looking for a good rebuild kit

Before purchasing anything it might be prudent to research the availability and pricing for machining services in your area. You may find that the costs of minor block preparation coupled with the labor costs for initial assembly of some of the parts, added to the cost of the parts that you would be supplying can exceed the cost of a completed short block ready to build, and with some sort of warranty.

It's not uncommon to have a shop disassemble and clean the block, clean out the core, install cam bearings, and disassemble/check/size/press the piston/rod assemblies back together. Add a core and oil gallery lug kit and the associated work, and the numbers could be greater than expected.
