5.5L from a 305?

So I've got a spare 305 just sitting around and I'm trying to decide what to do with it. I know that the only major difference between a 350 and a 305 is the bore size. Google isn't much help on the topic so I'm wondering, is it possible to make a 305 have 5.5l of displacement, and if so/not so, how would I go about getting that target number? Just out of curiosity of course. I'm assuming bigger CC heads, a bigger stroke and boring the block out as far as I safely can, but what else should I do to get that number?

The 305 (5.0) and 350 (5.7) share the same stroke, the bore is the only difference. A 305 block can not be bored into a 350 block due to cylinder wall thickness. A 305 can be stroked into a 335 (5.5) by utilizing the same stroke that would have been used on the 400 (6.6) much like the ever-popular 383 uses a 350 block and a 400 stroke. Building out a 305 for the cost and money into... still not even a 350... doesn't make a world of sense to me, but you're not me and the kits exist, so go wild.

Here's a kit to do what you're asking about. https://cnc-motorsports.com/eagle-13...h-pistons.html

Find a way to get it to rev and flow to 8000 RPM and you got a winner!

Power Nation made a stroker out of a 305.. 337 .. made good power like high 400 to low 500 hp.

Re: 5.5L from a 305?

Yes, but you'll have to stroke it.

Largest bore and stroked is 5.6: 3.796 max bore x 3.75 stroke = 339/5.6
Largest bore not stroked is 5.2: 3.796 max bore x 3.48 standard stroke = 315/5.2
Stroked not bored is 5.4: 3.736 standard bore x 3.75 stroke = 329/5.4
Typical .030 over bore not stroked is 5.1: 3.766 bore x 3.48 standard stroke = 310/5.1
Typical .030 over bore and stroked is 5.5: 3.766 bore x 3.75 stroke = 334/5.5

Power Nation and its new Engine Power channel have done impressive 305 builds, including a series with comparable builds of a Chevy 305 to a Ford 302, and the results were excellent and nearly equal.
